Mesoamerica Map Mixteca Map Mixteca-Zoom Map List of Mixtec Places The Mixteca Map and Mixteca-Zoom Map focus on the Mixteca and its surroundings. The Mixteca is a region that encompasses the modern Mexican states of southern Puebla, western Oaxaca, and eastern Guerrero; this region is roughly encompassed by the left-hand half of Mesolore’s Mixteca Map. Twelve important locations have been indicated to provide orientation. In order to view the top or bottom of this map, click and drag your mouse arrow anywhere on the map. To see any part of this region in more detail, you can either click on the Mixteca-Zoom Map link above or click on the magnifying glass in the map’s upper-right corner. Within the Mixteca-Zoom Map, click and drag your mouse on the map’s surface in order to change your point of view. The Gazetteer panel (List of Mixtex Places) includes a list of all locations (towns and archaeological sites) included on Mesolore’s maps of the Mixteca. Click on any location name and that location will be pinpointed on both the Mixteca Map and Mixteca-Zoom Map. Locations listed in bold are those for which place signs have been identified. Clicking on a bold location name will also bring up an image of that location’s place glyph, as well as pertinent etymological and bibliographic information.
